FORCES OF NATURE: Margitta Dietrick-Welsh
The new art shuttle will be picking up and dropping off at the gallery throughout the evening.
In her work, Dietrick-Welsh sets precise, botanical illustrations amid softer, more painterly organic shapes to create layered, fluid environments that posses a mysterious depth, requiring the viewer to look past the familiar flora and ponder larger questions about the environment and our place in it.
“[M]y artwork deals with 'tenuousness' in the sense of one’s precarious status and existence in nature. I use organic shapes and objects as symbols to expand on a spectrum of aspects of human existence: threat and defeat, fragility and strength, sensuality and sexuality.” --Margitta Dietrick-Welsh
The show will be open every Saturday and Sunday from 11am-5pm, May 4th through May 27.

Ursula O'Farrell: New Approaches to the Figure

Gallery tour and painting demo with artist Ursula O'Farrell: Saturday, February 10th, 2-4pm
The exhibit features Ursula O’Farrell’s new figurative abstractions, distinctive for their rich, experimental color combinations and gestural marks. O’Farrell’s figures emerge from abstract color fields, cloaked in thick, buttery layers of paint and invite the viewer into emotionally complex spaces. Her lush canvases are infused with light and create a atmosphere of a quiet contemplation.
Additionally, Ursula O’Farrell’s floral paintings are being showcased in a corresponding exhibit at Vino Cruz, open now through March 11th.

Come see some of the area's talented emerging designers and local jewelry and accessories designers in Michael Angelo Gallery's Pre-Open Studios Gala, as they come together with local art in a themed show "Fila dela Muse". Thread of the Muse will showcase "Nudes and Apparel" on the walls by local artists and Michael Angelo Studios residents. Collections by Armour Sans Anquish, Filly, Donna Lou Clothing, Legacy and Gypsy and Loic will strut their stuff on the Runway along with a beautiful Italian Vespa from Il Motorino of Santa Cruz. A "Press Boutique" will be available for attendees to meet and greet the designers and purchase items from their collections. Delicious appetizers from Poppy de Garmo Catering and River Cafe and Cheese Shop and wine will be served.
